It rises over 800 feet from th canyon floor near this pool of inspiring water. According to legend, Navajo parents keep their small children in line by telling them that if they are not good, Spider Woman will carry them to her home on top of Spider Rock and eat them. Speaking Rock, a monolith across the Canyon is supposed to keep Spider Woman informed of prospects for her meal.
